This is a lovely set of 10 Volumes (Volumes 1 - 10) of a 14 volume set, entitled Tales and Miscellaneous Pieces by Maria Edgeworth. Published in 1825 by R. Hunter et. al: London. Printed by Thomas Davison: London.
Each volume is half bound in brown leather with beige marbled boards. There is an attractive gilt design and title to the spines. All volumes have rubbing and wear to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spines, some more significant than others. Some volumes have cracks to the leather at the upper and lower joints, with small segments of leather that have flaked away. Please see the images provided as these highlight the areas of wear. There is also some scuffing to the boards. All volumes are solidly bound. Volume 4 has a small tear to the lower rear end paper. The binding to volume 6 is loose with the spine detached from the text block and held in place by a thread. There is foxing and browning throughout each volume. Some page corners have been folded over.
Details of each volume are as follows: Volume I: Castle Rackrent / Essays on Irish Bulls / The Modern Griselda Volume II: Belinda Volume I Volume III: Belinda Volume II Volume IV Leonora with Letters on Several Subjects / An Essay on Self-Justification Volume V: Popular Tales Volume VI: Popular Tales & Dramas Volume VII: Tales of Fashionable Life.
