J. M. Barrie's comedy was first performed in 1901 and enjoyed frequent revivals. The play provided the name for the confectionery first manufactured in 1936. The play was first filmed in 1927 and a second adaptation, starring Katharine Hepburn, was released in 1937.
Bound in the original lilac cloth with stunning gilt decoration and lettering to the front cover and spine. The boards are in very good, solid condition, with some light bumping and rubbing to the extremities and a faded stripe to the rear board. Lovely pictorial endpapers which are free from inscriptions. Colour illustrated frontispiece with captioned page guard. Pictorial title page. Featuring twenty one colour plates plus numerous in text illustrations. The contents are age toned with some moderate foxing to the preliminary and end pages - after the first few pages this lessens and is light and intermittent. A very good copy.
