Large format. Bound in the original publisher's gilt decorated red cloth. The boards are in very good overall condition - there are areas of discolouration and some soiling to the cloth as shown in the main picture, and there is some rubbing and bumping to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spine. There is also what might be a tooth mark to the upper right board, in the very corner, but this really is barely visible. Pictorial endpapers which are particularly lovely and also free from inscriptions. The contents are lightly age toned with some light intermittent foxing and the odd handling mark, but overall very good throughout. Prolifically illustrated, including twelve stunning colour plates.
