1914 First Trade Edition of The Admirable Crichton by J. M. Barrie.

This is a beautiful first trade edition of The Admirable Crichton by J. M. Barrie. Illustrated by Hugh Thomson. Undated. [1914] Published by Hodder & Stoughton.
Bound in deep red cloth with an elaborate gilt design and lettering to the front cover and spine. The boards are in very good condition with some rubbing and bumping to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spine. The spine has faded slightly. The pages are lightly age toned with some browning to the preliminaries and endpapers. There is an ink inscription to the front free endpaper and a note in pencil stating 'pressed flower stain to p.61.' There is an area of browning to the page where the flowers were, but the text remains perfectly legible. With 20 tipped-in colour plates by Hugh Thomson each set within borders and behind captioned and pictorial paper-guards. pp.235. External dimensions: 27.3cm x 21cm.
