Half bound in burgundy Morocco with burgundy cloth boards in very good condition. There is some light wear to the extremities and sunning. minor scuffing to the spine. Endpapers browned but the contents are otherwise clean and bright throughout. Each volume has a frontispiece with tissue guard. To the beginning of volume one there is the editor's note by Augustine Birrell, the author's preface to the edition of 1868 and the author's preface to the edition of 1888. An extremely attractive and solid copy.
