This beautiful book has the sweetest dedication, which reads; 'to Grasshoppers, Meadow-Mice, Fairies & Children, especially to Waltie, Jackie & Robyn.' It tells the story of a grasshopper who is taken in by a family of field mice one cold winter. The mice kindly give the grasshopper gooseberry syrup to cure his cough and make him comfortable - he then repays their kindness by saving the children from a black cat....An endearing story which as you can see, is also beautifully illustrated.
Bound in pictorial paper covered boards with a black spine. The lower spine has some wear and the paper covering has come away revealing the webbing beneath. It also has general rubbing and bumping to the edges and corners and some light surface soiling. The binding is stapled, and the staples have come away from the front board - this is insignificant though, as the binding is secure and solid. The contents are clean and bright throughout.
