Bound in original publishers pictorial boards with a blue faux leather moveable spine, in good condition. The boards are in very good condition - there is some minor surface soiling and light wear to the extremities, with some bumping to the bottom right corner. The contents are also very good overall - there is some age toning/browning but they are otherwise clean and bright throughout. 
 
This book comes complete with the original dust jacket, which is not usually the case. It has a small section of loss to the upper rear cover and some fairly significant tears to all edges, but with careful repair it could be improved.
 
The illustrations for this book are simply breath taking. This was the first book for the illustrator, whose name is actually Ann Mari Sjögren, and it was published in ten different languages. She went on to illustrate a further twenty or so books, and is now in her 80s.
Please note that this book is huge! Measuring a whopping 47cm x 35.5cm. Given that it is a children's book, I am always surprised to find one that has survived and remains in lovely condition!
