The Works of the Bronte Sisters. Heather Edition. Published by Allan Wingate Ltd

Title: The Works of the Bronte Sisters. The Heather Edition.

Author: Charlotte, Emily & Anne Bronte.

Publisher: Allan Wingate (Publishers) Ltd

Published Date: 1949

Format: Hardback. Cloth.

Condition: Used. Good-Very Good.

This is a lovely edition of the works of the Bronte sisters, named as such because of the pretty 'heather', or soft lilac coloured boards which make them a favourite for many Bronte collectors.

Six volumes, uniformly bound in lilac cloth with gilt lettering over a black title band to the spines.  Overall in very good condition, though there are a few minor condition flaws as detailed below.

As is common with the Heather Edition, the cloth and gilt to the spines has faded. There is also some slight discolouration towards the lower spines and to the edges of the front and rear boards, and a small white spot to the spine of Jane Eyre. Each volume has a slight forward lean, but nothing significant, and there is light wear to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spines. There is a crack to the rear joint ofJane Eyre, though it is firmly bound, and there is a crack to the front joint of Shirley. (see last two photographs)The contents are lightly age toned with the odd minor handling mark, and there is an ink inscription to the front free endpaper of The Professor.
