This is a particularly attractive and somewhat scarce edition. Bound in the original publisher's green decorative cloth and in very good condition. The boards are generally clean with some surface scuffing and a few marks, but nothing significant. There is some bumping to the corners and some shelf-wear. The lettering and decoration remains clear and bright with minimal fading. Internally the contents are good - there is some age toning to the pages, with browning/foxing, predominantly to the endpapers. The page edges are rough. Top edge gilt. 
 
An advertisement to the rear states the following: 'This edition will be printed on antique paper; each volume will contain a Frontispiece in Photogravure from drawings by T. Tyre Macklin and James Torrance. The cover for the volumes has been designed by Walter Crane. In Twelve Volumes, Crown 8vo.
