This is an attractive edition of Andersen's Fairy tales, illustrated by the Scottish painter, illustrator and sculptor Cecile Walton (29 March 1891 – 23 April 1956). Bound in the original grey-green cloth boards with a pictorial onlay to the front cover. The boards have some light bumping to the corners with a couple of minor bubbles to the rear cloth. Plain endpapers which are free from inscriptions. The contents are lightly age toned with some light intermittent foxing, a few spots of browning and there is a small tear to the upper edge of one page. There is a slight bend to the book, but this is not significant.
The Author: Hans Christian Andersen often referred to in Scandinavia as H. C. Andersen (2 April 1805 – 4 August 1875), was a Danish author. Although a prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, Andersen is best remembered for his fairy tales. Andersen's popularity is not limited to children: his stories express themes that transcend age and nationality.
