Four volumes bound in the original publishers cloth with faded gilt lettering to the spine. Each volume is in good overall condition, though they are all showing signs of wear, with surface scuffing/marks to the boards, rubbing and bumping to the corners wear, including fraying/splitting to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine. All shown in the photographs provided. Despite the external wear, all volumes are solidly bound. Yellow endpapers. The contents are age toned with moderate foxing to the preliminary pages, endpapers, and illustrated pages, and then light foxing throughout. The fore-edges are rough in places. p.135 of volume I detached but in situ.

Overall a good set - uncommon to find a complete set in the original cloth.
