Provenance: There is a letter attached to the front free endpaper of the first volume dated 1884. It is addressed to Mr Clark from Sir William Mitchell Banks (1842 - 1904). It reads: 
'Dear Mr Clark, Will you kindly accept the accompanying volumes as a reminiscence of the visit of the British Medical Association. I assure you we have not forgotten your kindness to us, nor your valuable [illegible] on the evening of the [illegible]. Yours sincerely W. Mitchell Banks. 
 
Quarter bound in burgundy leather with marbled boards. The set is in very good condition. Each volume has some wear to the extremities and some scuffing to the surface of the boards. The contents are age toned with some browning to the endpapers and occasional foxing. Uneven page edges.
