Title: Madeline

Author: Ludwig Bemelmans.

Publisher: Scholastic Publications Limited: UK.

Published Date: First published in the UK in 1952. This is a later 1992 reprint.

Condition: Very good in good dust jacket.

Madeline is the first book in the beloved children's series by the Austrian-American author and illustrator Ludwig Bemelmans. Set in an all-girls boarding school in Paris, France, the opening lines to this masterpiece of children's illustration are famous: “In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines lived twelve little girls in two straight lines.”

Bound in pictorial paper covered boards with matching dust jacket. The book and its contents are in very good condition and beautifully clean throughout. The dust jacket is good with light wear to the edges and some marks to the rear cover, as shown in the images provided. (the rear cover is actually a lovely lemon colour as opposed to the off white that appears in my photograph). This is a later reprint - if you would like to compare it to the original 1952 first edition, please see my other listing for this title.

Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans.
