This is a beautiful 'Poesie' Album, an object that was popularised in the nineteenth century, particularly in Germany, in which the owner would gather poems, handwritten notes, or paintings from friends as a keepsake and acknowledgement of their friendship. It was a lovely tradition and resulted in albums filled with unique 'works of art' - many of them being quite stunning. 
 
This particular album is written in German and belong to Erika Waldmeyer. The earliest date is 1926 and the latest 1932. It contains a watercolour painting, silhouette images, poetry, pencil drawings and many personal messages and notes. It is solidly bound and in very good condition overall. 
 
It is without doubt an object to be admired and treasured. Sadly German is not a language I can read and so I will leave it to the new owner to translate the contents.
