Caldecott was a well known illustrator and the Caldecott medal was named in his honour. He influenced the illustration of nineteenth century children's books.
 
Bound in the original publisher's pictorial cloth and in very good condition, with almost no signs of wear. The contents are lightly age toned but otherwise beautifully clean and bright throughout. Prolifically illustrated. Complete with the original dust jacket which is in good overall condition, though there is a section of loss to the lower and upper spine and general shelf wear.
