Title: Common Wayside Flowers
Author: Thomas Miller
Publisher: Routledge, Warne, and Routledge: London and New York.
Published Date: 1860
Illustrated: by Birket Foster
Pagination: pp.185
Condition: Good - very good
This is a scarce edition of Thomas Miller's work on flowers, accompanied by an illustrated half title page and stunning full colour vignettes by Birket Foster. Bevelled boards in the publisher's original decorative pictorial cloth. The boards are in good overall condition - there is some rubbing and bumping to the edges and corners and slightly more wear to the head and tail of the spine. The pictorial paste downs to both the front and rear boards are in lovely, vibrant condition. There is a poignant inscription to the front free endpaper, which I have detailed below. The contents are age toned with some heavier foxing at the beginning of the book which then becomes moderate to light. This is shown in the images provided. This book is filled with the most beautiful illustrations in colour - it really is a beautiful book.
The inscription reads:
"To Avril, treasure this book as your Mother did, for sometime it will give you peace when you need it most. Love from Dad."
