Half bound in brown leather featuring gilt decoration and gilt lettering over a black title band to the spine. All volumes are solidly bound and with an aged appearance, having wear to the surface of the boards, and to the leather at the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spine. Some volumes have more scuffing at the extremities than others. The contents are age toned with a few marks here and some foxing/browning which is moderate to the preliminary pages and end pages but generally light and intermittent elsewhere. Overall a beautiful set which has numerous beautiful illustrations.
