This beautiful book is in very good condition overall - the binding is tight, no loose pages and the contents are predominantly clean and bright. But, there are some aesthetic issues and as such, it would make the perfect candidate for restoration or re-binding, should the new owner choose to go down that route.
Original vellum, spine and front cover lettered in gilt, front cover with central vignette and decorations in gilt, top edge gilt, others uncut. The boards are quite badly warped, moderately soiled and there is an area to the rear cover which is rough and worn. Ink inscription to the verso of the signed page. The contents are age toned with some light intermittent foxing. There are damp stains to the lower right corner of the preliminary pages up to page 6 and from there on only the odd page has a faint outline of the same stain. Colour frontispiece and 35 colour plates tipped in as issued, with captioned tissue guards. Original closure ribbon not present.
