This is a beautiful set despite missing on of the four volumes. Bound in the original publishers gilt decorated cloth, each volume is in very good overall condition. There is some light wear to the surface of the boards, slight fading to the spine and rubbing and bumping to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spine. The contents are lightly age toned with some lighter intermittent foxing. All edges gilt. A really lovely set which needs to find its forever home! Perhaps the new owner can source the missing volume!
