This is a beautiful set of four volumes, described as being the 'new issue - supplied to subscribers only....illustrated by twenty-four beautifully engraved portraits and printed on fine toned paper, completed in four half-volumes, cloth elegant, at 7s. 6d, each or gilt edges at 8s. 6d each.' 
 
Light brown decorative cloth featuring an attractive burgundy design with burgundy lettering which is highlighted in gilt. The boards are all in very good condition - there is some rubbing and bumping to the edges, corners and to the head and tail of the spine but overall very good. Deep burgundy endpapers. Contents mildly age toned but otherwise clean and bright.
