The Prize for Girls and Boys was a popular illustrated children's periodical, published throughout the year and then with twelve monthly issues bound together into one volume. It was published by Wells Gardner, Darton, & Co. during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and features included short stories, poems, and tales, designed to be wholesome reading for youth.
 
Bound in the original burgundy decorative cloth, this volume is in very good condition, with only minor wear to the extremities. The contents are light age toned but otherwise clean throughout. There is a pencil inscription to the front free endpaper. Featuring 12 chromolithographic title pages, and one additional colour plate as the frontispiece, as well as numerous black and white engravings throughout. A truly lovely book.
