This is the eighth volume of the "Adventure" series in which the characters Philip, Dinah, Jack, Kiki the parrot and Lucy-Ann encounter exciting adventures. There are seven other books in this "Adventure" series, entitled: The Island, The Valley, The Sea,  The Mountain, The Ship, The Circus and The Castle of Adventure. 

 

This book is first edition, complete with the original un-clipped dust jacket. Bound in a pale yellow cloth with green/brown lettering and pictorial design to the front cover and spine. The boards are in very good condition with minimal signs of wear. The spine is slightly cocked. The contents are in very good condition - there is some browning to the endpapers and an ink inscription dated 1955 to the front free end-paper. The pages are otherwise clean and bright throughout. Complete with the original dust jacket, designed by the artist Stuart Tresilian. The jacket has some light wear to the edges and has been strengthened internally with brown tape, as shown in the images provided. It also has some light surface soiling, darkening to the spine and a few small marks to the rear cover.
